I had often ministered to Ruth and Larry. Their son, Bill, had been a terrible disappointment. We had talked and prayed together so many times about their worries for him.

At age 30, Bill still had not gotten his act together. He had been married and divorced twice. He neglected children from both marriages. His former wives had long since given up expecting regular child support payments. His drug and drinking problems made regular employment an impossibility.
