I once read in a letter from a UCC minister to his congregation that children are not learning to live life, but are living it already. What we may think of as games or child's play, is in fact, the material of life itself. The child involved in play or work or make-believe is involved in the task of living. The skills that a young child gains will be carried into adulthood not as a thing separate from life, but as a part of life, where experiences and talents are not lost but put to use. -- Winifred
