I once stood beside the casket of Abraham Lincoln, inside his memorial monument in Springfield, Illinois. It was a solemn thrill to be that near the body of one who is probably the greatest president in the history of the United States. As I stood there I recalled some of the great things Lincoln had done for his country, and a deep feeling akin to reverence passed over me. At times I return to visit the graves of my ancestors, particularly my parents. Standing there, I recall the love they gave me while they lived.
