I was convinced that I was serving the most difficult, demanding, conflicted congregation in the country. This group of people were always fighting about something. Nothing the minister did could ever please them.
Out of my frustration, my preaching began to take a nasty direction. Every Sunday I found a different way to scold the people about their individual and corporate behavior or their lack of faith. My sermons were unrelenting in their criticism.
