I will not forget the story I heard about when a father trusted in his son's maturity. For years the rule around the house was that when Dad spoke, the children listened and immediately set about the task as instructed. There wasn't much room for debate or discussion. When he spoke, children listened; when he instructed, people acted. But then there came a day when both the father and the son knew that work had to be done. But instead of speaking and giving instruction the father simply mentioned a task to which attention should be given.
