If someone were kept in a pitch-dark room for long enough, he or she would eventually become blind through lack of use of the optic nerve and the sensory nerves that serve eyesight. The same is true of muscles. If muscles are left unused, they become atrophied and will no longer function or serve the individual. The same is true in the animal kingdom. The dodo bird gradually lost its ability to fly because it rarely used its wings. This can also happen to our faith.
