It's an old truism that you get out of something only what you put into it. Some years ago an experiment was conducted in a high school. Two classes were taken to see a professional production of one of Shakespeare's plays. One class had been studying and reading the play, while the other had not. The class that had not studied the play was bored and unresponsive. Their comments were, "It was confusing ... I didn't understand it ... the language was difficult." On the other hand, the class that had previously studied the play was enthusiastic and reacted intelligently to the presentation.
