Jacob was a preemie with a birth weight of less than three pounds. He spent the first three
months of his life in the hospital, fighting for his life. One of the complications was that
his left leg never developed properly, and he wore a leg brace. He was also very small for
his age, but he was a fighter. Even as a baby, his mother would take him to many soccer
games, and soon little Jacob, leg brace and all, was kicking a ball and trying to dribble it.
Several years ago, Jacob joined a park league soccer team.
