Jerry was an outstanding basketball player. He had excelled on his high school team; and now, he was a starter for his college team. He was having the time of his life. However, during a game one night, Jerry received a sharp blow to the abdomen which continued to produce pain after the game. The trainer suggested a visit to the emergency room to check it out.
After many tests and continued pain, Jerry was diagnosed as having a malignant tumor which had been aggravated by the blow to the abdomen. Surgery was scheduled, and at the age of 19, Jerry was informed that he would have to undergo major surgery, caustic follow-up chemical therapy, and the accompanying loss of hair and nausea. In the face of such a difficult and death-defying treatment for his disease, Jerry displayed admirable courage. He was the type of person who would have done whatever it took, no matter how simple or complicated, to regain his health. Because of his courage and acceptance of the suggested cure, Jerry is alive and well today.
