"Jesus continued walking by Lake Galilee" (Mark 1:19, The Everyday Bible). Our word "walk" came from the Old Engush word "wealcon," meaning to roll, to journey. Literally, to walk means to go on foot. Figuratively, to walk means to follow a certain course in life, to conduct oneself in a particular manner. In Greek the word for walk is "peripateo." The "Peripatetic Philosophy" was established by Aristotle who lectured to his followers as he walked under the porticoes, the shaded walkways, of the Lyceum at Athens.
