King David's tomb is located...

King David's tomb is located on Mount Zion in Jerusalem. The cenotaph is draped in red
cloth embroidered with Hebrew text, a cloth that could date back to the sixteenth century.
But is David buried there? In the 1948 war for independence, a mortar shell landed close
to the site. This allowed archeologist, Jacob Pinkerfeld, who was sent to repair the
damage, to examine the building site. He discovered three older floors under the existing
marble floor, the oldest dating back to Roman times. A foundation ledge at the Roman
level proved that the Roman floor was the original floor.
