Emphasis Preaching Journal
King for a day
Commentary
Each year, in communities across the country, high school students are given the opportunity to become community leaders for a day. The students are allowed to "shadow" a specific community official -- mayor, council member, judge, and so on -- to learn firsthand about how government works. Sometimes the students will even act out the role of the leader for a few hours or for the day. No doubt this brief encounter with fame and power has encouraged many a young person to enter public service.
