Knowing what is the right...

Knowing what is the right thing to do and doing it are two different things, as Jeanine discovered when her boss, a married man, began flirting with her. She was flattered, which surprised her because she was happily married. "What's the harm in a little flirtation?" she thought to herself. Every evening at home she found herself thinking of her boss, always feeling guilty since her husband was so attentive to her.
One day her boss suggested they go out for dinner. She agreed and called her husband, explaining that she had to work late on a project. After this happened a couple more times, the boss said it was time to get more serious about their relationship. He would arrange a weekend together under the pretense of work responsibilities.
Jeanine lied to her husband again. Her struggle with what was right, however, took its toll on her. She was nervous and jumpy as the planned weekend approached. Her husband took her out to dinner to help her relax. At the restaurant, they ran into her boss who was having dinner with another female employee. After an awkward moment, she introduced her husband.
Jeanine felt deep shame for her disloyalty to her marriage vows. She told their pastor, in whom she had confided, "I knew my intentions and actions were sinful, but it seemed I had no control. But, thank God, I was brought to my senses, and with Jesus' help, it won't happen again!"
