Last year one of the television networks ran a film version of the (true) story of the United States' entrants in the first modern Olympics at Athens. The fellows didn't understand the rules and regulations of the competition facing them. Unlike their sophisticated European counterparts, the American college youth who trained -- on their own, in pastures and back alleys -- used shot puts that were too heavy, discus larger than it should have been, and other handicapping equipment. It was done out of pure ignorance.
