In Lerner and Loewe's musical, Gigi, two people reflect on their romance of many days past. He tries to rekindle that spark in her by telling her how he remembers so well the times that they have had together. He brings out the details, "That carriage ride." "You walked me home," she rejoins. And so it goes through the song, and he says, "Ah, yes, I remember it well." While he remembers some of it, many of the details he had forgotten or transposed. We talk of how we have forgotten more than other people know (a rather backward way of bragging).
