Daniel's "dominion," given to the Ancient of Days, means that raw power is given to the Son of Man, Jesus Christ. We all know, by experience in international affairs, that any country with power like ours also becomes a target for hate like ours. T. S. Eliot explains what this means in terms of the church, and why hatred of the church exists. He writes the following in Choruses from "The Rock."
"Do you think that the Faith has conquered the World
And that lions no longer need keepers?"
