Lord, show us the Father...

"Lord, show us the Father, and we will be satisfied." Philip's request seems admirable,
but he apparently had no idea what he was asking. I say that for at least three
reasons.
First, Philip didn't understand God's complexity or his nature. Scientists don't even understand all the factors that create weather systems on this small planet of ours. How can anyone grasp the nature of the universe's Creator?
Second, Philip failed to comprehend that he, at that moment, was speaking to the one who was the human form of God. As Paul recognized later: "In him the whole fullness of the deity dwells bodily" (Colossians 2:9). All that we human beings could ever conceive or comprehend about God was present in Christ.
Third, no one ever saw the Father without God making a demand on him/her. When the Lord appeared to Moses, he ordered him to take off his shoes then sent him on a lifelong mission. After Paul encountered the Lord, he had to change his life. Philip eventually saw the Father and his life was transformed, too. If you really want to see God, be ready for a life-overhaul.
