Mahatma Gandhi in his younger days was impressed by Christianity. One Sunday in South Africa he went to a church, planning to ask the minister afterwards for instructions in the faith. But as he entered the building the ushers refused to seat him. "Why don't you visit the colored people's church?" he was asked. Gandhi never became a Christian. "If Christians also have differences, I might as well remain a Hindu," he explained.
