The main negotiating for an end to the war in Bosnia occurred at the Wright Patterson Air Force Base in Dayton, Ohio. At one point when the sides were making very little progress, the United States State Department hosted a dinner for the negotiators in one of the airplane hangars. And right there in sight of the dinner table were parked a stealth bomber and a cruise missile. By doing that, the State Department was trying to send those Bosnian representatives a not-so-subtle message that if they did not solve their own problems, the United States would solve them for them.
