A man was hired by the New Jersey Highway Department. His job was to paint the yellow lines down the middle of the highways. At the end of the first day, he reported to the foreman. The foreman asked him how much he had painted. The man replied, "I painted a line for three miles." The foreman was pleased. "Keep up the good work," he told the new worker. The next day, however, he only painted a line for two miles. The third day he painted a line for a mile-and-a-half. The fourth day he painted only a mile. At the end of the fourth day, the foreman said to him, "You can't paint fast enough.
