A man who received three commendations for giving lifesaving help was fired for the fourth time he saved a life. Twice he gave lifesaving aid to traffic victims; once he applied CPR to a heart-attack victim; but when he saved a suicidal man from death, he was fired.
Bennie Lewis received a phone call from a fellow employee at the American Protective Bureau in Oakland, saying that he planned to overdose on drugs. Lewis called the police and an ambulance and guided the man into a substance abuse program, but a few days later he lost his job.
