In many of Clint Eastwood's early Western movies, Eastwood's character never has a name. In High Plains Drifter, another person, when confronted by the no-named man, yells out, "Who are you? What's your name?" When the no-named gunslinger comes into town, people are cautious of the cold, tough, dangerous man whom they know little about. The fact that they never hear his name adds to his mysterious identity.
