Many of us can identify with Jesus' experience of ministry in his hometown and his observation that a prophet is without honor in his own country. In Nazareth, Jesus found that pre-existing expectations on the part of the townspeople limited their ability to receive his ministry. They were unable to accept him in his new role because they were limited by their old familiar ways of knowing Jesus in the context of his family.
