Mary did not feel merry
when the angel came
just fear
and awe
"How can this be?"
and finally
complete
submission.
She understood and at length
accepted
the immensity
of it all.
And as this Christmas dawns
may we feel more than just
a momentary merriness.
May we, like that young woman
know wonder
even fear
and at length
an offering of ourselves.
"Behold, receive us too,
and use us, Living Lord."
