The moral of the well-known children's story about The Little Engine That Could is not that the locomotive was able to think positive thoughts and say "I-think-I-can." The lesson to be learned is that the engine was able to keep on saying "I-think-I-can" all the way to the top of the mountain. That so many fail to recognize the real lesson of this story perhaps indicated how little the virtue of steadfastness is valued and appreciated in today's world. We tend to regard a person who won't give in or bend as dull or unimaginative.
