Moses must have felt that the adventures of his life were over. Saved from death when he was an infant, raised in the court of Pharaoh, hunted for murdering an Egyptian, escaped into a howling wilderness to a new life as a shepherd -- these were more than enough adventures for one life. Moses had enough. Rather than yearning for the pleasures and dangers of Egypt, the simple life of the desert suited him. When God called, Moses did not answer out of devotion or commitment, but simply from curiosity. He turned aside to see a strange sight, a bush that burned but was not burned up.
