In the movie, The Andromeda Strain, a space probe returns to earth having brought with it some exceptionally virulent, deadly, and unknown virus. This film has long been considered a science fiction classic. The first place to experience the effects of the plague is a remote village. A special team of scientists trained for such an eventuality is gathered and sent to the scene. There they discover only two survivors of the incident, an infant and an old man. These two seem to have miraculously survived by some inexplicable circumstance.
