In the movie, Hoosiers, the main character, a head basketball coach, attempts to give a man a second chance. A star player's father is an alcoholic. The whole town knows about the man's problem. His own son is embarrassed by him. It seems that the man, nicknamed "Shooter," will never amount to anything. But the head coach gives him an opportunity by ignoring the past errors. "Shooter" is given the chance to work as the assistant coach. He arrives at the game well dressed and sober. His attitude changes. Granted, in the movie he suffers a relapse. But the point is still well taken.
