In the movie, Roadhouse, Patrick Swayze plays the part of a cooler or head bouncer named, "James Dalton." Upon entrance to his new job, immediately he fires corrupt employees, and makes drastic changes in the treatment of customers and quarrels. Conflict ensues! Dalton's change creates more enemies. But eventually "The Double Deuce" club is transformed and becomes a finer establishment.
In John, Jesus cleanses the temple early in his ministry. This is a sign of a new order and replacement of the old temple. It makes him as dangerous as James Dalton was to the rich villain, Brad Wesley, in the movie, Roadhouse. Jesus' actions were a concrete threat to dominant culture and powers of the day. This is what got him crucified as a Messiah. (From N. T. Wright, Jesus and the Victory of God [Minneapolis: Augsburg Fortress, 1997] p. 547.)
