Music critics have heralded Brahm's Requiem as the most outstanding of his works in bringing together all the elements of his artistic ability. During his career Brahms was criticized considerably for his work that reflected the impact of his predecessors and his failure to join forces with the growing school of romantics led by Richard Wagner. However, his students have been able to demonstrate his originality and ingenuity such as is evidenced in Requiem.
