My boyhood pastor was a model for me in ministry. I remember the day I was sitting on the porch of our farm home, crying because my brother and I had just had some kind of problem. Dr. Hughes sat down on the porch beside me.
He asked me, "What do you want to be when you grow up?" In a moment, I said: "I want to be a preacher man." That was when I was five or six years old, but that was the beginning of the journey. That is exactly what I wanted to be, and that is what I became.
