At night, in cities across...

At night, in cities across our country, the glow from streetlights and the lights from homes and businesses eclipses the light of stars and planets. This artificial light phenomenon has been named "light pollution;" it has gradually worsened over the last two or three decades. On satellite photographs of earth, the United States is clearly visible in the large and small dots and clusters of light that link across the land.
