Not many young people want to learn how to fiddle these days. The electric guitar, the drums, and the keyboards are far more popular. That's a problem in the mountains of West Virginia where the art of old-time Appalachian fiddling is passed on from one generation to the next without benefit of recordings or even sheet music. It's all done person-to-person, playing by ear. But without any students, the old-time masters have no one to pass their music on to.
