Nowadays, we think nothing of blacks and other minorities playing in the major leagues. But it was not very long ago that no minority was welcome in the major leagues. In fact the only place that the black man could play was in the Negro Leagues or in travelling games. Finally, Branch Rickey, the owner of the Brooklyn Dodgers hired Jackie Robinson to play for him. Soon other black players were playing in the major leagues. These first blacks were unacceptable to many players and fans.
