Do you ever feel like there is something missing? Surrounded by all the things in the world, good and bad, ugly and beautiful... still. A blank space. An unnamable space. A space that sometimes keeps you awake at night, trying to put your finger on what exactly it is. The mysterious "Rainbow Connection." The "ineffable." The Athenians that Paul speaks to in today's reading knew that space. In their great pantheon of gods, they still felt that empty space nag at them like a jagged fingernail -- just noticeable enough to be a little bit irritating.
