In October 1994, 53 members of a religious cult in Switzerland died when they burned down the chalet where they were staying. The group, known as the Order of the Solar Temple, led by a man named Luc Jouret, had as a central belief that God was very soon going to destroy the world as punishment for all the evil that takes place. But authorities were not quite sure why the cult members committed that mass suicide.
