One January afternoon a young teacher led twenty-six bundled-up first graders out into a gently falling snow. Holding hands, they formed a circle on the playground. After standing still for a few moments, the teacher asked them to close their eyes, open their mouths, and turn their faces towards the sky. Soon several of the children began to giggle. Cries of "It's wet!" and "I caught one!" came from around the circle.
