One of the mini-vacations that my wife and I enjoyed so much was a weekend trip to Monticello to visit Thomas Jefferson' magnificent home. Few houses in America more accurately reflect the personality of its owner than does Jefferson's Monticello. Our guide informed us that beginning in 1768 when the house was first built and continuing for the next 40 years Jefferson remodeled virtually every part of the home.
