One of the most surprising best-sellers of recent years was Stephen Hawking's A Brief History of Time. Although many bought the volume, very few claim to understand it. Its popularity is likely as result of the theme: "Where did the universe come from, and where will it go?" Hawking does a remarkable job of explaining the mysteries of general relativity theory and quantum mechanics and more recent attempts to "unify" physical theories.
