In our age, much of the language of scripture is devoid of meaning. Redemption is a case in point. To most persons today, it is bank bonds or pawned jewelry that are redeemed, not people. We must weep with a father and a mother when they receive word that their son was wounded and captured in war and they realize that they do not have enough wealth to redeem him from execution.
