Our lives are enriched by impractical things we do or have which are symbols of feelings or beliefs that are sometimes too deep for words.
A rude Westerner was traveling in China and ridiculed a Chinese burial custom. He said to the old man who served as his guide, "It is ridiculous for you to leave food on the grave of the deceased. When do you think the dead get up and eat?" The old Chinese smiled and replied, "I guess when they get up to smell the flowers you bring."
