Polls indicate that more than 50% of the work force do not enjoy their work. That would appear to be disastrous and suggests why industries are hard pressed to deal with the high incidence of absenteeism and job dissatisfaction. Some industries provide psychological counseling and some have hired chaplains. A generation ago, Richard Bolles wrote an excellent handbook on the subject of vocational distress titled, What Color Is Your Parachute? that continues to be the standard on the matter of vocational distresses.
