Poor In Spirit
Inner vision, inner sight
eyes to see beyond
the darkness of the soul,
eyes to see the light:
my sight is gone;
my inner eyes are blinded,
vision burned away by doubt,
by questions words cannot express --
questions which demand too much
from me, from life,
from those I love, from God.
I let go of the vision which has blessed
and move by instinct into the abyss,
adrift, longing, loving --
but unworthy ever of grace.
My spirit slowly fades away,
dying in the darkness.
