Pope John XXIII was an excellent living example of the type of person referred to in this passage from Saint James. He was wise and showed it by humility and good sense. Three incidents exemplify his unique unpretentiousness and rich manner of relating to people.
He once said: "The dear Lord knew from all eternity I was going to be pope. You'd think he would have made me more photogenic."
Another time, while viewing in a full-length mirror, he chuckled; "O Lord, this man is going to be a disaster on TV."
