Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Edward Albee says the role of the theater is to hold a mirror up to society and show people the way they really are.
"The problem is that most people these days don't think art should tell us the truth about ourselves," Albee said. "They think art should be congratulatory. They want lies in politics and in their own lives." Albee, the author of Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf? spoke at the spring conference of Metropolitan English Language Arts Association.
