Recently (1996) the Laotian government circulated arrest warrants for Christians, threatening to remove them from their families and villages. Arrests ensued. In prison, these Christians were not allowed to see any visitors for the first three months of their incarceration. In a village in Sudan, Africa, government gunships opened fire on Christians, killing three and wounding four. Reports come out of China about how some Christians, when they are caught praying, are punished by having their ankles broken.
