The relative size and importance...
Illustration
The relative size and importance of the tongue to the whole body can be compared to an element in the science of paper airplane folding. Within that science there are many different designs. Some involve very few folds to construct a working model. Others are a bit more complex with many different folds to complete a flying prototype. Regardless of the complexity of the design, one of the smallest but most important folds is usually one of the final ones to be performed in the plane's construction. That fold builds the trailing edge flap on the wing.
