She reckoned they'd have corn cakes for supper. A mayonnaise jar half-full of cornmeal and a small bottle of olive oil were all they had left after the storm destroyed the house. She knew someone would be along with help, but it might take a day or two; no vehicle of any sort was going to get through until the uprooted trees and other debris were removed from the roads. She had sent her son to gather sticks for a fire. "It'll be fun!" She had told him.
