So the gatherers of fish were to be trained how to gather followers for the Master. Whether the analogy is fishing or the harvesting of grain, the lesson is unmistakable. The goal is to recruit new disciples for Jesus.
The church has called this activity evangelism, which to many people is clouded with more negative images than positive. Surely, this activity involves the giving of information. Thus, the church teaches and preaches the Good News. But the strategy involves more than just the imparting of information. It involves inspiration.
