Some of Charles' friends tease him and accuse him of being "gay." The reason is that the he does not want to go out on Friday nights with the gang and go to parties. He does not like to drink alcohol, as his family has a history of alcoholism and drug addiction. He also hates the smell of tobacco smoke. So Charles studies for college exams, plays computer games, and attends church when he can do so. Still, his friends make him look like the odd one.
